Wedding Minimony at Tyler Gardens

Last year, I had the opportunity to be a part of a beautiful styled shoot planned by Dee Kay Events at Tyler Gardens, in Newton PA. This stunning wedding minimony is inspired by the traditions and culture of Croatia. As someone who loves to travel and learn about the world, this was a dream styled shoot! All of the vendors hope to inspire couples who are looking to feature their heritage here, in the US, if they can’t travel to Europe. Of course, we also hope to inspire anyone planning an event who simply loves the old world glamor of somewhere like Croatia. As of today, this styled shoot is now published in Destination I Do, too!! Our feature includes images from four of the photographers present, so it’s truly a beautiful collaboration!

Wedding Minimony at Tyler Gardens

Our planner, Diane Kolanović-Šolaja is a first-generation Croatian-American – and the owner of Dee Kay Events. With her knowledge, inspiration from her family, and her incredible style, she pulled together the aspects of this shoot seamlessly. Every detail is truly thought out in the images you’ll see. From the welcome gift with products from Croatia to the invitation insert that Suite Scape Design created from photos of her father’s village… Diane truly thought of everything! The team even ensured that the florals used would be found in Croatia, like rosemary, lavender, blackberries, carnations, cuscus, and iris Croatica. This level of detail made photographing our styled minimony even sweeter.

Tyler Gardens was the perfect place to plan a minimony like this one. With stunning gardens, an old mansion, and the beautiful grounds, it’s a wonderful venue for a romantic celebrations. When you’re planning a minimony, finding the right venue to provide the feeling you want is crucial! We held the ceremony in one of their gardens and planned the reception setup outdoors too. The grounds here are absolutely breathtaking – so we wanted to take full advantage of them all.

Croatian Inspired Wedding Decor

While we wanted to invoke the feelings of the old world Croatian experiences, we also leaned into fun modern touches like metallic gold to bring that hint of luxury to this minimony. One thing I love about more intimate days is that your details can truly be elevated because you’re creating an experience for fewer guests. Your budget can be used in a different way than with a larger wedding. This wedding minimony was the perfect example of that! With the gold accents, wood and stone pieces, the team really created a rustic yet glamorous wedding style.

To the entire vendor team: thank you for allowing me to photograph this beautiful Tyler Gardens styled shoot. This styled shoot is so special to everyone involved. I hope the images show you the level of thought and detail that was put into planning it all. Attention engaged couples! I’m currently looking for an engaged couple for a photo shoot on Saturday, February 12, 2022 in Wall, NJ. The time slots currently available are 10am and 10:45am. The shoot will last 30-45 minutes and will take place in an indoor studio in Wall, NJ. Couple will be photographed by me in an all-white studio. Inspiration for the shoot can be found here.

Requirements:

An ENGAGED couple for an indoor engagement session in a studio setting
Couple will provide their own outfits – one casual and one dressy
Outfits must be approved by me prior to the session date

Tented NJ Wedding

Lauren and James’s wedding has been featured on New Jersey Bride! These two were married in fall 2019 in an outdoor ceremony and celebrated afterwards with a tented NJ wedding reception. These days, this style of wedding is exactly what most couples are looking for when they’re planning a Covid-friendly wedding, so I know it’s going to serve as inspiration for future couples.

Lauren and James met while they were students at the University of Delaware. After seeing James wearing a Jets hat, Lauren said a shy hello, and the more they talked, they realized they knew a lot of the same people and had a ton in common. Their relationship blossomed and before they knew it, they began planning their incredible wedding day at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge.

When the day finally came, it was my associate photographers Jocelyn and Sarah who had the honor of working with this couple. The entire day took place at WOTW and Lauren and James chose to do a first look, so it was a nice and relaxed wedding day with everything on site. As much as I love church ceremonies (I had one myself!), I have to say that there’s something so appealing about having a wedding where everything takes place at one location. There is so much less stress and more time to enjoy each other’s company. I’m glad I’m not planning a wedding now because I’d have a hard time choosing between the traditional or more modern route!

Romantic Fall Wedding at WOTW

Congratulations to Ariella and Lou! Their gorgeous fall wedding has been featured on MODWEDDING! I always get so excited when one of our couples has their wedding published on one of the top wedding blogs. You all put so much effort into your wedding design, invest in the prettiest florals, and details, and it deserves to be shown off to the world!

This wedding took place in September at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge in Millstone, NJ. Ariella and Lou originally planned to get married in the summer but had to change their plans due to COVID-19 and ended up changing their venue also. I can only imagine all the stress and frustration, but Ariella and Lou adapted wonderfully and their wedding came together beautifully. They opted for an outdoor ceremony, tented outdoor reception with plenty of access to the outdoors, and a smaller guest list.

Ariella and Lou embody the new hashtag going around: #LoveIsNotCancelled! I’m so grateful I was able to be a part of this wedding in such a small way and am so honored to have my images featured on MODWEDDING. Click here to see the feature!

Fall Wedding Inspiration at Park Chateau Estate

This summer, I had the opportunity to participate in an editorial shoot for fall inspiration at Park Chateau Estate and today it’s being featured on Style Me Pretty! SMP is one of my favorite wedding blogs to follow so I’m excited to have my work featured on there, especially since this shoot was held at one of my very favorite venues as well, and with all but one of my 2020 Park Chateau weddings being postponed until 2021, this was one of very few chances to shoot there this year!

Something I love about shooting at Park Chateau Estate is that the neutral color palette allows couples to get creative with their wedding design and color palette. Heather Benge Events and Rosaspina Florist did just that with the floral installation of this editorial. For as many times as I’ve shot at this venue, I’ve never seen the chapel look this stunning! Florals all around the chapel entrance, creating the prettiest backdrop for our couple. This shoot makes me SO excited to get back to capturing weddings at this beautiful venue next year and seeing all the ideas my couples will bring to life for their wedding day! I’ll be there half a dozen times next year so you’ll be seeing lots more of this place on my blog.

How to Take Insta-Worthy Engagement Photos

Engagements are such an amazing time in a couple’s life and a photo shoot is a perfect way to capture this time to turn it into tangible memories to be treasured for years to come.

Additionally, an engagement session is a way for couples to see what it feels like to be in front of a camera and it will help get rid of the jitters before the big day!

I recently spoke to Blue Nile, the world’s leading online retailer of diamond engagement rings, to share my professional tips for taking beautiful, insta-worthy engagement photos.

Here are my top 3 pieces of advice for a great engagement shoot:

Dress up

You don’t often get the opportunity to have professional photos taken so make the most of it and dress up! For the ladies, long flowy dresses are huge right now as they add romance to any photo, and for the gentlemen, a well-fitted suit is the perfect complement.

Trust your photographer

Trust your photographer with regards to timing for your engagement session. He/she will be a great resource for picking the time that best suits their style of photography and the location you have chosen.

If you’re nervous about posing, be sure to choose an experienced photographer who will guide you through a variety of poses.

Don’t be nervous

Don’t be nervous! Enjoy the session and trust that your photographer will make you feel comfortable and look amazing!

Fall Wedding Inspiration at Windows on the Water

I’m so excited to share that our editorial shoot at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge is featured on Wedding Chicks today! I’ve been keeping these photos under wraps until the shoot was published but now you finally get to see the images my team and I captured back in July!

Since early spring this year, weddings have been reimagined. Most weddings had to be postponed or restructured with shorter guests lists. It has been a difficult time, to say the least, but having had an intimate wedding myself, I wanted to bring to light how special a small wedding can be. As much as I love big weddings with lively dance floors, there’s something magical about a quiet evening with a small intimate group of people that want the absolute best for you and your loved one. And those who are doing a minimony this year and a big celebration next year are certainly getting the best of both worlds – you are the luckiest!

For this editorial shoot, our focus was an intimate ceremony under lush trees. Here the sky is big, but the celebration is small. With an outdoor micro-wedding like this one, nature becomes the canvas and our couple has the freedom and creativity to paint their wedding with personal touches.

At Windows on the Water at Frogbridge, the willow and pine trees envelope guests in a natural canopy. The lakeside location is an ideal backdrop for a small ceremony, and guests can enjoy the pleasant water breeze as their loved ones exchange vows. The festivities continue under the towering pine trees, as 16 guests indulge in food, conversation, and cocktails around a welcoming farm table, adorned with a billowy runner.

Couples like this one are also redefining tradition in their color palette selection, as seen in the sprinkling of crimson, green, and cerulean, anchored by the reoccurring color of copper. Pops of color appear in the wedding invitation suite, floral arrangements, wedding cake, groom’s suit, tablescape, and, of course, refreshing grapefruit gin cocktail. The beauty of an outdoor wedding is that nature makes the best complement to any couple’s design vision.

Plans for large, indoor weddings may be hampered; however, this suspension from tradition is inviting couples to reconsider what is important. Most would say that sharing love and laughs with their most beloved people among the stars and whispering trees is pretty great.

Elegant Estate Wedding at Park Chateau

This year may have brought fewer weddings due to all the postponements caused by COVID-19, but luckily I get to re-live so many of last year’s weddings thanks to some recent features! One of those weddings is Jamie and David’s elegant estate wedding at Park Chateau from last fall. Their wedding was featured yesterday on Contemporary Weddings Magazine. You can see the feature here! I loved this wedding so much – not only did I get to work with the sweetest couple, but they had the best taste when it came to putting together a fall wedding. They had the prettiest fall color palette, lavish florals by the amazing Sally over at Pink Dahlia Vintage, and elegant details throughout the day. Biracial Wedding at Park Chateau Estate

I’ve been pretty quiet these days both on my blog and social media because it’s hard to know what to say during these difficult times for our nation. I really want to bring inspiration to your daily content, though, so I thought I’d break the radio silence today to share Kenesha and Frank’s wedding. It was featured yesterday in Trends Magazine and it’s is a perfect example of how beautiful it is when love has no color. I’m so excited that it was showcased in such a meaningful way this week, during an important time for our wedding industry to bring more attention to BIPOC couples.

There is no doubt that the wedding industry is flawed, but the current events in our nation are undoubtedly bringing about much needed change, and we are ready to embrace it. We want you to know that we at Idalia share the deep conviction that all lives cannot matter until BLACK LIVES MATTER. We hope you will join us to stop racism and we thank you for your ongoing support.

Pantone Wedding Editorial: Classic Blue

Back in February, I had the opportunity to work on a wedding editorial featuring the Pantone Color of the Year: Classic Blue! I was invited to capture this inspiration shoot by Be Inspired PR and Sugar Rose Events and, of course, I couldn’t pass it up. I’ve been keeping the images under wraps awaiting publication and it was featured on Destination I Do on Monday so I’m excited to finally be able to share the images with you!

This shoot took place in a NYC loft and rooftop and brought together an incredible team of vendors. From a stunning invitation suite by Lace and Belle to a jaw-dropping floral installation by Faye + Renee and a unique cake by Polkadot Cake Shop, every detail was perfect.
