Last year, Gianna and Rob decided to commemorate their wedding day with a timeless collection of framed prints. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the details of their choice, the frames they selected, and the joyous impact it had on their home.

The Selection Process

Choosing the right images to represent the essence of their wedding day was a thoughtful and sentimental process for Gianna and Rob. They carefully picked four of their favorite images captured at The Mill Lakeside Manor during their wedding last year. These images held special meaning, reflecting the love and joy they experienced on that unforgettable day in late September. They then sent us their image choices and we created mockups for them so they could visualize their artwork on their walls.

Framing Choices

We love that Gianna and Rob came to the studio to see frame options in person! This made their decision so much easier when choosing their frames because there’s truly no better way to choose frames than to do it in person. For the living room, Gianna and Rob opted for a set of 16″x24″ framed prints. The couple chose our Kanso frame, known for its durable, modern veneers in soft neutral wood tones. The Kanso frame not only complemented the images but also added a touch of contemporary elegance to their living space.

As for their bedroom, the couple decided on a stunning 40″x30″ statement piece. This larger print held a significant place in their hearts and was chosen to be a focal point in their personal space. Our Hans frame, crafted from beautiful natural white oak woodgrain, was the perfect choice to enhance the beauty of this statement piece.

Look how gorgeous these frames turned out! I couldn’t help but take a photo of them after we prepped them for delivery and installation day.

Delivery and Installation

To add an extra touch of warmth to their holiday season, we delivered and installed Gianna and Rob’s artwork shortly before Christmas. The timing allowed their friends and family to enjoy seeing their beautiful printed art just slightly over two months from their wedding! I didn’t have my camera that day but here are a couple of quick iphone photos! BTS from this installation on Instagram in the “Wall Art” Highlights.

From the initial consultation, it was clear that this would be a special project. We wanted to create not just photographs but timeless memories for Kristy and her family. We decided on a custom portrait session that included wardrobe guidance, professional hair and makeup, a thoughtfully designed wall gallery featuring three of Kristy’s favorite images, and of course an heirloom album for her to cherish all of her favorite images.

The session took place at the beach near my photography studio. The natural beauty of the coastal setting provided a stunning backdrop and I loved capturing timeless portraits for this sweet family. Once the images were ready, we visited Kristy at her home for the Reveal and Ordering Appointment. Since we were designing specifically for the walls in her home, we wanted to be on site to show her the different options we could for her.

The custom wall gallery we created was for their family room, where they spend the most time. We selected three images and created mockups for her. The final result was a breathtaking display that perfectly complemented the aesthetics of Kristy’s remodeled home.

In addition to the wall gallery, we created a custom heirloom album – a tangible keepsake that would preserve these precious moments for generations to come. The album featured a curated selection of images from the beach session, beautifully bound in a timeless design.

As a photographer, it’s moments like these that remind me of the profound impact visual storytelling can have on families. It was an honor to be part of Kristy’s journey, and I look forward to creating more cherished memories for families in the years to come.

The Process

The first step in creating a wall gallery is always to photograph the space so we can import the wall photo into our software for creating realistic mockups.

With the help of our software, we were able to show Kristy exactly what this gallery would look like on that specific wall.

Next up: choosing the frames! Kristy’s home had a lot of dark wood accents so naturally she fell in love with our Madison frame. We thought it was the perfect choice!

Tada! The finished 3-piece wall gallery! We love knowing that Kristy and her family see these images of their family on a daily basis.

The Album

For their album, Kristy chose a linen cover in Tundra, a beautiful dark gray. She added standard engraving to the cover and upgraded to deep matte paper. Their album was so stunning!

Crafting a Personalized Narrative

Photography is not just about freezing moments in time; it’s about telling a unique story. Rachel and Bobby’s wedding day was a tapestry of emotions, laughter, and love, and they wanted to weave those memories into the fabric of their everyday lives. The journey to create their custom gallery began with a thoughtful selection process, where the couple handpicked six of their favorite wedding images, each encapsulating a special moment from their wedding day.

The Process

To start, we asked Rachel to photograph the wall they wanted to fill. She was concerned she wouldn’t be able to photograph it well, as the photo had to be taken on an angle in order to fit it fully but we assured her as long as we had something to scale it with, it would work out just fine! She followed the quick and easy directions below and sent us a simple iphone photo of the wall. The 8.5″ x 11″ paper gave us something to use for scale so that we could create realistic mockups for her and Bobby.

Next, we got to work creating their mockups! We started with three general options – a single piece, a quad, and a 6-piece. Rachel loved the one-piece but decided that, ultimately, they love that photo so much that they preferred to save it for when they eventually move to a bigger home where they can feature it best. She liked the idea of featuring multiple images so we created different versions of the 6-piece collection.

Rachel and Bobby decided they loved the six portrait collection. Now the only thing left to do was choose the images, frames, and matting!

Frame Choice

Rachel came in-person to our studio to pick out the frames for their artwork. There’s nothing like seeing frame choices in person to see the color and textures in real life. She chose our Hudson frame, one of our most popular options, and one that we have on display right in the studio.

The Power of Double-Matted Prints

To elevate their chosen images, Rachel and Bobby opted for double-matted prints. The double matting not only added a touch of sophistication but also provided a visual depth that drew the eye to the heart of each photograph. Our studio takes pride in offering personalized options, and the choice of double-matting exemplifies our commitment to tailoring every detail to our clients’ unique preferences.

Turning a Hallway into a Time Capsule

The hallway – a passageway that often goes unnoticed – became the canvas for Rachel and Bobby’s love story. The Design Process

So how does it work? I include complimentary wall art design with each photographic experience with me. Once your images are ready, you’ll view them during your Reveal appointment and then you’ll be presented with options to create custom artwork for your home. Have a specific wall in mind that you’re looking to fill? Take a picture of it and send it over so we can import it into our design software and show you exactly (and to scale!) what your artwork will look like in that space.

Once you’ve chosen the number of pieces in your wall art collection, my design team will help you choose the frame that best fits the aesthetic of your home. From wood to metal to composites, the options are limitless! And after your artwork comes in, we’d be happy to head to your home to install it for you on your walls. No more waiting for hubby to finally get around to doing it – we take that off your plate and do it for you!

What is a Reveal and Why Do I choose to include a Reveal for all my clients?

A Reveal is simply the very first time you get to see your images after your wedding or portrait session.

Seeing your images for the first time is deserves to be a special moment. Personally, I’d hate it if that moment happened at the checkout register at the grocery store. If you’re anything like me, you’d be too excited *not* to click on that gallery and start looking at your images right then and there. Chances are, you’d have a hard time waiting to be with your spouse to take a peek. And then the excitement is over, and picking out images for your album has suddenly been put on that endless To Do list. Not to mention DIYing wall art for your home.

Instead, imagine knowing the Reveal Date in advance and blocking out an evening for a date night with your spouse shortly after you’re back from your honeymoon or, if you’re one of my portrait clients, shortly after your kids go to bed. Together, you sit down and view a slideshow of your photos and see your photos for the first time while cuddling up on the couch in the comfort of your home. Hopefully with your favorite drink in hand and a charcuterie board or yummy dessert within reach!

Once you’ve seen your images, you’ll immediately know which photos are the most important to you, and you’ll even be able to easily see which photos have had the most impact on you and that you want to have in printed form. This is the moment when I want to make sure that you have help to create your tangible heirlooms – while the memories of your wedding or other life’s milestone are still fresh in your memory – which is where my design team comes in.

All of our albums are flush mount, so the images are printed directly on photographic paper. Flush mount albums are the current standard in the wedding industry and they are gorgeous! The albums are layflat, so the pages will lay flat no matter which spread you open up to, and you’ll hardly notice the tiny gutter. Albums come in three sizes: 8″x8″, 10″x10″, and 12″x12″. All of our albums are custom, so they include however many pages you’d like, and you can also create a 2-volume album to ensure your love story is told in detail. Wondering about the covers? We’re proud to offer a wonderful array of cover options for your album. From linen to leather to velvet, the options are all beautiful and each one is prettier than the last.

The Linen Album

The linen album is wrapped in an elegant yet durable linen bookcloth. A linen album is included in all of our collections and I love that, while less formal leather or velvet, the linen album is just as sophisticated.

The Velvet Album

The velvet album is so soft to the touch! You can’t help but want to touch this album the second you see it. The distinctly soft feel has a water repellent finish, and the material is extra-heavy duty double rub tested for durability.

The Leather Album

The leather album is made with old world craftsmanship and is covered in an array of luxurious leathers. This book has a more formal feel to it so it’s perfect for couples who want their album to be a statement piece. Our standard leather line is moisture resistant and made of genuine Italian full grain leather that ages beautifully.

The Design Process

Each album comes with a custom design appointment to make sure your album design takes just a couple of hours, not weeks of weeks of back-and-forth emails. You’ll hop on a video call with my design team and see your album come to life right in front of your eyes. You’ll work with the designer one-on-one and make any requests right then and there. Your album will be custom to YOU!

Things will get busy, you’ll buy a house, you’ll travel, you’ll have kids. All of life’s journey creates expenses and a wedding album rarely makes it to the top of the list once you’re married, but by ensuring that you have a wedding album in your collection, I’m ensuring you’ll have this treasured heirloom within the first few months of your marriage.

Professional wedding albums aren’t available to consumers.

You’re investing in high-quality photography so I want you to have a high-quality wedding album. The albums we offer as wedding photographers are incomparable to any album or photo book you could create or purchase on your own. By ordering your album through me, you’ll have access to a product that isn’t available to consumers. My album company only sells albums to professional photographers and I assure you that the quality is unmatched!

Your album will be unique to you, and my team and I do all the hard work of designing it.

All of our albums are custom-designed by a professional design specialist and presented to you for customizations during our Reveal and Ordering Appointment. You’ve likely never designed a wedding album before, so being able to sit down over a video call with our in-house design team is extremely helpful in ensuring your wedding album will be perfect and custom to you. During the design session, you’ll be able to share your input and see the design updates right then and there, as our design specialist makes your requested revisions over the video call.
